One Band, 38 Dates, and 250k+ Posters
One of our favorite materials to print on is rainbow holographic foil. We tend to use it sparingly as an artist edition rather than the main version of a gig poster. But for some time now, alternative metal and rock band, Tool, has been asking for foil and foil only. These gig posters have quickly become some of our all time favorites to work on.
Most of the artwork for Tool posters is printed in full color using four color process—what we call CMYK. This printing method involves printing only four colors—cyan, magenta, yellow, and black—in halftones to achieve a full color spectrum. We’ve added a few extra steps to this printing method at both the preparation and production levels to reach our standard level of quality. We pride ourselves in having the ability to screen print such a wide range of colors with precision.
This year, we were lucky enough to print the majority of Tool’s 2022 North American Tour. In total, we shipped off a bit more than 250,000 posters for 38 shows. Phew! Thats a lot of films, screens, foil, and ink! Though we were only using four inks, sometimes we couldn’t help but add a little something extra! The occasional little pearl glitter overlay or subtle white base were sprinkled throughout the tour. The true star of this tour, though, belongs to the famous rainbow foil.
